If I Could Change the World

Greed, hate, resentment, and anger, feed off each other like ravenous lions at the kill. They are allies and foes, only love surpasses all.

Do you remember me? We sat together and dreamed of all we could do.Gods_Love How beautiful it would be. What happened, do you remember me?

gazastripWhat happened, did we forget? Did we get addicted to the greed, power, anger, and lust? We were going to change the world, build, help, and love each other.

Dreams and hopes and aspirations, jobs and homes and education. How we live and how we perceive, all is possible when we believe.

Our dreams, our hopes, our plans, we sat together so long ago; we vowed we would change the world.

Do you remember me? Have you forgotten what we said?   I too can hardly remember the words, we were so young, sitting there, laughing and planning.HappyPeopleWorkingTogether If we only could do this, everyone would have a job. If we could only do that, everyone would have a home. How could we have known how we would change as the drug of success pulled us down into an endless addiction?

Here we are today, addicted to our policies, doctrines, and procedures. It is no longer about what we can do, it is only about keeping what we have. It is no longer about changing the world, it is now about protecting the books, the churches, the political parties, and the profits.

We thought we could change the world and as we thought the negative energies looked upon us and laughed. “You go change the world if you like,” they teased, “We will gladly lend a hand.” Then they whispered chameleontheir words, first this and then that as our dreams and hopes faded to greed, jealousy, and resentment  We thought we were doing right as we slowly changed, like chameleons in the forest, until now. Here we sit, locked in our addictions that we can not even understand or see. How can I change the world when I can hardly change me?

Where Have All The Leaders Gone

During my life I have discovered there are different types of leaders. There are those that think themselves a leader who sit in leadership positions and there are those that are natural leaders.

Within business there are those that obtain executive positions and are trained to push the productivity and business solutions supporting the enterprise. Below that level there are people. These are the people that perform the work that delivers the product of the business. Without these people the business would not survive. Among these people you will find the natural leaders.

A natural leader does not have a political or power agenda. These leaders aren’t even aware, in most cases, that anyone considers them a leader. Each day these people work hard to complete not only their work but also selflessly help out their fellow workers.

At times the natural leaders are found to be the “rebel” of the team. These people will push for honesty, integrity and fairness from their employer. They will push for equality and good working conditions. These workers are never politically correct. They openly express their opinions, not to degenerate but rather to help.

Natural leaders believe in people.

Can name any natural leaders of your work, community, nation or world?

Looking For A Better Day

Most of you already know that I have no political or religion affiliations. Yet, it may be confusing that I post some of these political items and send many comments to DJT and HRC via twitter. I know that each of these people and the masses that support them have an equal right to do so. That does not bother me. What does bother me are the lies and corruption. Corruption in Government has been prevalent for thousands of years and occurs no matter who has the power. With power comes money and lots of it. When a person gets too much of either then their biggest fear is losing one or the other. To protect power and money these people will do and say anything to keep it.

History has shown this. Present day antics of the political elite show this. Present day actions of corporations seeking their own profits show this. Economic elitist play their monetary games, building their wealth while the people suffer.

Consider this, a city decides to build a sports stadium. Money is borrowed and the money brokers make millions of dollars in the brokerage deal. mile_high_stadium_on_july_13_1995The people who pay for those deals are the taxpayers. Ignorantly we accept this one trickle at a time not realizing its overall impact to our daily lives.

Wealthy people become more wealthy and poor people get more poor. Housing and education suffer. As it deteriorates more people cannot get a job because they are not qualified or the jobs have left to another country.

Things get worse, unable to pay the bills the Government increases taxes and more jobs are lost. The nation borrows more money and then comes a time when it can no longer pay its debt. The people suffer and then there is anarchy. It is a sad story bore out so many times in history.

What can we do to alter this path? So easy to ask, so hard to answer. Where in history have we seen any nation turn around on its path of self destruction?colosseum-rome However, we have seen individuals who have been able to turn around from adversity. Sadly, all the things that an individual can do should not do by Governments. Governments should not declare bankruptcy. Governments should no liquidate certain assets.

Governments can become responsible, but only if the people force it. The people must reject the status quo and push for redevelopment of the country.

Do not trust that someone else will speak your voice. Stand up and speak for yourself. The elites will only do what is good for them. Understand this and speak up.

Not Everything Is As It Seems

This is a tale that was recited to me one night.

An Older Angel and a Young Angel were sitting on a cloud looking down over the earth. The young Angel turned to his mentor and asked, “What is it really like there?” The old Angel looked at his protégé and replied, “Nothing is as it seems.” The youngster stared at the world a few more moments and then asked, “would you take me for a visit sometime?” At that moment the Older Angel stood up, looked kindly at his companion and in the next instance they appeared on a dusty road, covered in worn and tattered clothes, slowly walking along silently.

After walking a few miles and as the evening came upon them, they decided to look for shelter for the night. Not far in the distance they saw a huge house all lit up with an abundance of lights both inside and out. They walked up a long and wide brick driveway with white fences on either side. In the distance they could see large herds of cattle settling down for the night. Many people moved around in the barns, storing equipment and feeding the animals.

They walked up to the massive front door and rang the door bell. Within a few minutes the door opened and a man appeared, seeming irritated to having been bothered. The old Angel spoke to the man, “Excuse me sir but we have been walking a very long distance and we are very tired, thirsty and hungry. Is it possible that you might provide us a place to spend the night and perhaps also give us something to eat and drink?”

The man frowned at them and said, “I have no use for beggars, go on down the road, get off of my property.” The old Angel smiled patiently and spoke again, “I am sorry sir to have bothered you, but please if you may, would you provide us a place to spend the night and perhaps share something with us so we might gain the strength to leave your property tomorrow?” With that the man told them to follow him and he walked around the house to a door that led to the basement of the house. Once inside he pointed to some horse blankets stacked in the corner and told them they could make a bed with them and sleep on the floor. The man then went up the stairs to the main house returning minutes later with a pan of steak bones left over from his dinner. He then pointed to a faucet and told them they could drink water from that. Before he left he said, “spend the night here, eat from these bones and depart at first light. I do not wish to see you come the morning.” The man then left.

The Angels made up their beds from the horse blankets and laid down for the night. A few hours later the young Angel awoke to see the old Angel mending a crack in the wall of the basement. He thought it strange that his old companion would work so hard for someone who treated them so unkindly.

True to their word the Angels were up before sunrise, folded the horse blanket and put them back where they had taken them. With that completed the Angels left the home and proceeded down the dusty road. As they walked the old Angel pointed out the many sights along the way. There were many critters that crawled on the earth, birds the flew, trees, grass and animals. The wind blew gently in their faces as they walked. All-in-all it was a very pleasant experience but once again the evening came upon them and they needed to find shelter.

Looking in the distance the Angels saw a small old house. Next to the house was a small barn that was as worn and tattered as their clothes. A single cow stood in the pasture. In the barn yard there was a few pieces of farm equipment, all having seen much better days. They approached the house and knocked on the door. An elderly man opened the door, greeting them with a big smile, “Hello,” he said, “It looks like you have had a long walk. You look very tired and I bet you are very hungry and thirsty. Please come in and sit down at the table.”

The two Angels entered into the house and nodded to the old farmer’s wife who was standing next to the kitchen stove. “Sit down.” she said, “I have just finished making some stew, please have some.”  With that she filled two plates with the stew in the cook pot and sat it in front of her guest. As the two Angels ate the stew presented to them the elderly lady poured two glasses of butter milk and gave it to them.  She then went into the her bedroom and after awhile she came out.

The Angels finished their meal and the elderly man asked them to sit with him a moment in front of the fire place. The farmer’s wife then told them that they should sleep in the bedroom tonight. At first the old Angel protested but she explained that her and her husband were used to sitting up next to the fire place and she asked them to please feel comfortable and sleep in the bed.

The two Angels retired for the night. When the young Angel awoke early in the morning he saw his mentor looking out the window into the barnyard. He walked up to his companion and looked out the window where in the distance he could see the milk cow dead on the ground. Next to the cow stood the farmer staring sadly at the fallen cow. The farmer’s wife was kneeling beside the cow, crying.

“What has happened here,” the young Angel asked. “How could you let this happen?” he once again asked of his mentor. The old Angel turned to the young Angel and said, “things are no always as they seem.” The young Angel argued, “how can this be, yesterday we spent the night at a rich man’s house. That man treated us miserably yet in the middle of the night you repaired the crack in his basement wall. Now, this couple has treated us kindly. This couple fed us their own supper and gave us their bed for us to sleep. Why did you let the cow die?  The old Angel replied, “Things are not always as it seems, yesterday when we were sleeping in the basement of the rich man’s house I awoke and saw gold gleaming through a crack in the basement wall. I got up and patched the wall so the man would not see it. Then this morning, the Angel of Death came to take the farmer’s wife and I told him if he must take something then take the cow instead.”

I often think about this tale. It is a simple story. There are good in all things, you only need to look for it.

Do you have any habits? It’s a funny sounding word, I must admit. More funny may be some of the habits that we share. For example, young children may pick up the habit of picking their nose. Most of us have probably done this more than once, after all, it is important to have an unobstructed airway in order to breathe. (smile)Gods_Love

A behavior becomes a habit my regular repetition until the point that it becomes automatic or habitual. Years ago when I smoked cigarettes, whenever I stopped to talk with someone my right hand would automatically reach toward my shirt pocket to get a cigarette. Even after I quit smoking, for a long time afterward, I would still reach for a cigarette each time I stopped to talk with someone.

Some habits that we develop are good while others are not so good. For example, we can develop habits of simply preparing to go to work. Each morning when we get up we must proceed through our normal morning routines. IMAG0381These routines can also be defined as habits if they are performed in a nearly automatic fashion. There have been times where I have completed my morning rituals of preparing to leave for work and suddenly, while driving down the road all of a sudden realizing that I could hardly recall anything that had happened since I woke that morning.

A habit can be formed by any repetitive behavior. Consider these types of behaviors: Yelling at your children or spouse;angry being angry at your boss or a coworker; gossiping; arguing; speaking too loud; criticizing others; slovenly acts; cursing; being rude. If we repeat these behaviors frequently there will come a time when the behavior is so automatic that we will not even know we are doing it.

We can become prisoners to our habits. Someone may ask us why we do something and we might not even know why or we may say that we have always done it this way. Governments develop habits the same was as individuals. If we look close enough we can see that bad habits, such as over spending, are equally destructive to both the individual and governments.

I do not want to be angry. I do not want to yell, criticize, argue or fight. I would like to throw away habits of self-indulgence. I do not want to be afraid anymore.

I want to be aware of all things that I do. I wish to always do the right things for the right reasons. I believe that we can change our habits just like I was able to change my habit of smoking cigarettes. In the case of smoking, one day I decided that I would not smoke cigarettes anymore and on that day I simply broke the habit. It was a choice that I made in order to live a longer life. If I am to live a longer life then that life must be worth living and therefore I must toss aside the bad habits that I have developed and either replace them with good habits or just leave that space open for the opportunity to do something more spontaneous.

Practice love and you can love, practice caring and you will care. Practice sharing and you will share, practice giving and you will relish in your generosity.

Investigate your habits.

To see the good in all things with a different perspective

What are you doing habitually of which you are not aware?  Are you kind and generous or mean and resentful? Perhaps you think yourself one way but act contrary to your thoughts due to habits.

Whatever you do, know that it is your choice as to how you behave. Regardless of your choices God will never love you more or less due to those choices. God infinite love for you is unconditional.

Love always,

Put Whom First?

I was driving down the street and passed a church with a sign outside that said, “Put God first and you will always be happy.” I thought about this statement and honestly I do not think that it is correct.

God is very important in our lives, however, if God was first and foremost then we would need to ignore family and friends. In a world where God is first we may begin to dishonor people who do not think like we do. If God is first then we may start to do things in God’s name that was never intended by God, perhaps even start wars and destroy people and nations for what we think is right, in God’s behalf.

If we were created to put God first then why would we have come here to live? Something doesn’t make sense to me. We come to live here as the people of the world with different thoughts and different beliefs. If we put our belief in God gazastripabove others, then how do we ever live in peace and harmony? If we cannot live in peace and harmony how can we ever by happy? Looking at the image left, I think about what happens when people put God first.

So, whom do we put first? I was given a chance to ask two questions of an Angel. I did not know the best question to ask and when I discussed the importance of the questions with him he suggested a good question to ask is, “How do I love more?” So, I asked the question, “How do I love more?” He replied, “Learn to love yourself.” If this is the answer to a good question then perhaps I should put myself first, if I am to be happy.

If I put myself first then it implies that I ignore others for my own benefit. I don’t think I can do it this way because if I ignore my family then they are not happy and as a result I am not happy. Because I enjoy family I put them first and that makes me happy and because I enjoy being happy am I in effect putting myself first by putting them first?

I enjoy being liked by others so I make them important in my life. I used important rather than first because if others are not family and family is first then they hold a place between me and family. Is that true? HappyPeopleWorkingTogetherThere were many times when I placed work above family. Still, work provided an income which was important for my family to live and therefore by putting work first above family I was able to provide for my family which made them happy resulting in me being happy and because I did lots of good work my employer and co-workers were happy.

Given that all of the above is true, it would suggest that if we put others above ourselves and work together helping each other live that in the end we have put ourselves first because what we have done is made our self happy.

Whom do we put first? Think about it awhile and perhaps you will see that we need to put our selves and each other first in order to be happy.

Regardless of what you decide, God Loves You.

Love always,

I was thinking on a few things and I recall my brother telling me I was obsessive. I hardly thought it was true at the time and haven’t given it much thought since until this morning.  I asked myself if I have a obsessive personality.

Is it right or wrong to be obsessive? Once again I pulled up an online dictionary to find that to obsess is to let an idea or thought continually preoccupy or intrude on your mind.  Ok, I have a lot of thoughts and ideas that fill and intrude on my mind, but they come and go and though the thought may intrude on my find with some level of frequency I would hesitate to call it continually.

What are things I think about frequently? Well, I think about my wife, things I could do to upgrade our home, how to save money, how much money we have to spend, food, my weight, friends, writing, taxes, body pain, the weather, children, grandchildren, people I have known in the past, mistakes I have made and dreams of things I could do in the future. I think about things that I do that I should not do and things that I say that I should not say. I think about what to do and what to say. I often think about how to live, I rarely think about how to die. I often think about who I am.

I have all of these things that go through my mind, so which is more prevalent than the others, what thoughts could be called obsessive? For example, in terms of money I track money earned, to be earned, spent and to be spent. I have multiple worksheets to track this and use both online applications and other computer tools to track where we have been and where we will be in the future. I could call this obsessive but I would rather call in prudent planning, but even planning can become obsessive.

I must concede that I am surely obsessive about many things and there are times that I let some things intrude into my mind much more frequently than they should and so it is for so many that let hate intrude into their minds.

I often think about how to live. Very frequently, I wonder why all the hate is necessary. Though a small percentage of the whole, there are so many that promote and/or practice hatred and violence. Life hangs in a precarious balance.

I think about the pain of innocent children as they witness the carnage of hatred that surrounds their lives. I ask the question, “why is it necessary?” I think I understand how it is possible to hate like that, but when you think about it you may discover what I know to be true. The truth, for thousands of years people have fought and killed each other, each act of violence and hatred generating 10 fold new hatred and violence. In the history of the earth we have never ever seen a case where hatred and violence has led to peace and harmony. It has never happened, so why would anyone imagine that an obsession for hate and violence can or could create a better world for their children?

I am obsessive, are you? Regardless of what you say or do, God Loves you.

Love always
